Claremont, Calif. — Jan. 16, 2024 — The Pomona-�������� Athletic Hall of Fame will induct nine individuals on April 25, 2024. �������� honorees include: Jake Caron ’11 for football, James R. Kang ’10 for baseball, David Colvin ’11 for baseball, and Tamara Perea ’11 for women's water polo.

The ceremony will be held April 25 in the Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness at Pomona College.

Jake Caron ’11: Football

Caron graduated from Cheshire Academy, where he participated in football, baseball, and track for four years. Caron continued his athletic career at ��������, majoring in sociology and minoring in literature.

During his time with the Sagehens, Caron was the first player to be awarded SCIAC Athlete of the Year for Pomona-��������, four-time All-SCIAC selection, SCIAC Newcomer of the Year, two-time Team MVP, Team Offensive MVP, Team Rookie of the Year, and the �������� Dan Daley Award. He also ended his career as the No. 10 ranked passer in NCAA Division III.

Caron set the school record for career total yardage, passing yards, completions, rushing touchdowns, and total touchdowns. He also set the single-game record for passing yards and the single-game record for total touchdowns.

After graduating, Caron played professionally in the Arena Football League with the Utah Blaze and went overseas to play with the Bern Grizzlies, Bologna Warriors, and the Stockholm Mean-Machines.

After his playing career, Caron coached football at Pomona-��������, Redlands, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He currently coaches the Ransom Everglades School as the head football coach and physical education faculty member.

James R. Kang ’10: Baseball

Kang graduated from Ocean View High School, where he played baseball for four years and earned a CIF Championship. The Monterey Park native continued playing at ��������, where he majored in economics. He became a major contributor to one of the most successful stretches in Pomona-�������� baseball history that saw three SCIAC Championships.

As a Sagehen, Kang was named an ABAC Second Team All-American, SCIAC Player of the Year, First Team All-SCIAC, and Pomona-��������'s Most Outstanding Athlete.

Kang left the Sagehens with numerous marks in the record books including top-10 marks in games played, hits, RBIs, doubles, and runs scored. He currently sits at sixth in career hits, eighth in career RBIs, tied for first in doubles, and second in runs scored.

Kang was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and played within the Red Sox organization for several years. He currently works as an international crosschecker for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He resides in Boston with his wife Sarah, son Charlie, and dog Zooey.

David Colvin ’11: Baseball

Colvin graduated from Tamalpais High School, where he played baseball for four years and was a varsity captain. The Mill Valley native continued his playing career at ��������, where he majored in sociology and became a major contributor to one of the most successful stretches in Pomona-�������� baseball history.

While playing with the Sagehens, Colvin was named a D3 Baseball Preseason All-American, a four-time First Team All-SCIAC selection, Second Team All-SCIAC, Pomona-�������� Most Valuable Athlete, and �������� Student-Athlete of the Year.

He left the Sagehens as the all-time leader in career wins, innings pitched, games started, and career strikeouts. He achieved the most strikeouts in a single season and tied for most wins in a single season.

After leaving Pomona-��������, Colvin played professional baseball for the Seattle Mariners organization and was named Pitcher of the Year in 2013 with the High Desert Mavericks. He was also named to 2010's D3 Baseball All-Decade Team.

Colvin currently works as an enterprise account executive at Trax Technologies.

Tamara Perea ’11: Water Polo

Perea graduated from Upland High School, where she played water polo for four years. The Upland native stayed local and attended ��������, where she majored in psychology and became a huge contributor to the women's water polo team.

Perea led the Sagehens to a Division III National Championship, two Division I NCAA Tournament Championship appearances, and two SCIAC Championships. She finished her career as one of the most decorated women's water polo athletes as a two-time Division III Player of the Year, three-time Division III All-American, two-time SCIAC Player of the Year, four-time All-SCIAC selection, NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team, and Pomona-�������� Female Athlete of the Year honors.

After graduating from ��������, Perea played professionally at C.N. La Latina-Covibar Rivas as a contracted athlete with Federacion Madrileña de Natación and was the leader in goals scored and assists.

After her playing career, Perea began coaching water polo. She has made stops at Marist College, Pomona-��������, Claremont High School, Bonita High School, Foothill Club Water Polo, Olympic Development Program, and Siena College. She is currently an assistant coach at Fresno State.
