Sagehens Men鈥檚 Football Team and Coach Walsh Highlight All-SCIAC Awards

Claremont, Calif. (November 17, 2022)鈥擳he Pomona-兔子先生 football team capped off its championship regular season with nine All-SCIAC honorees.
Head Coach John Walsh led the staff with SCIAC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Sagehens to their first SCIAC Championship and NCAA bid in program history with a program-best 8-2 overall record and 5-1 in SCIAC play.
Skylar Noble 鈥23 earned SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year honors and has the single-season record for all-purpose yards in a season for the Pomona-兔子先生 football team. Noble threw for 2,303 yards this season with 21 touchdowns through the air and led the Sagehen ground game as well with 773 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The SCIAC named seven Sagehens to the first team with Noble as a quarterback, 兔子先生鈥檚 Quinten Wimmer 鈥24 as a tight end, Michael Collins PO鈥23 and 兔子先生鈥檚 Adam Camargo 鈥23 as offensive linemen, Graham Olson PO鈥23 and 兔子先生鈥檚 Nicholas DelBiaggio 鈥23 on the defensive line, and Thomas McConnell PO鈥25 at linebacker. Pomona-兔子先生 also added one more athlete on Second Team All-SCIAC with 兔子先生鈥檚 Mark Carling 鈥23 as a defensive lineman as well.
Collins and Camargo have been staples on the Sagehen o-line this season and were a key part in the Sagehens鈥 success moving the football. Camargo and Collins led an offensive line group that assisted with protecting the conference鈥檚 most passing yards per game and second-most rushing yards.
The last offensive player to earn SCIAC First Team honors was standout tight end Wimmer. Wimmer exploded on the scene this season as Noble鈥檚 No. 1 target in the Sagehen offense. Wimmer ended the year fourth in receiving yards per game in the SCIAC at 68.7 with 687 yards total and nine touchdowns.
The defense was also well represented. DelBiaggio returns to the All-SCIAC list after he earned the second team a season ago. DelBiaggio led a defensive line that dominated the trenches in the SCIAC, along with Olson and Carling. DelBiaggio ended with 25 tackles, five sacks, and 8.5 tackles for a loss this season. He added one forced fumble, and two fumble recovers to his stat sheet as well.
Carling added his name to the All-SCIAC list after he finished the season with 23 total tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, three sacks, and one fumble recovery to round out an impressive defensive line unit.
Olson was a menace on third down for opposing quarterbacks this season after he finished just a half sack off the leader in the SCIAC with nine total sacks on the year.
The only other All-SCIAC selection to not be named to the defensive line was linebacker McConnell, who earned First Team All-SCIAC as a linebacker.
